Hey, you Senators and Congressmen. You think we're not watching? ...too many times you've put America second, trampled on the Constitution, and let her people down. Well, we don't want your big brother government, socialism, or higher taxes... We're fed up with your hypocrisy, out of control spending, and pork barrel politics. Ol' Winston almost had it right, "Never have so many been abused by so few"...
When I was just a little boy,
Sittin' on my daddy's knee,
Lookin' at the fire, rocking in his arms
And listening to stories he'd tell me
He'd talk to me about America
And how she came to be
And through his voice I lived the past
That's made her strong and free
(Yes I did, uhmmm hum)
It started in seventeen seventy six, we had the hosses and they had the guts
When 56 brave men declared, "By God, we'd had enough!"
Saying, "NO to unfair taxes and not living life as free"
We picked up flint and musket and we fought for liberty
Patrick Henry said it best, his only choice could be
Was to "give me liberty, or give me death"
He spoke for Paine and Adams, Paul Revere and all the rest
As they fanned the fires of freedom that burned in every breast
CHORUS
Take a look around look around my brother, take a look at what used to be,
Take a little time to help one another, and vote to keep us free,
Are you tired of lies and promises, tired of the spending spree?
Of power hungry hypocrites making rules for just you and me? Stepping on our freedom
That night in 1836, it was cold, and it was still
Santa Anna's campfires burned around me
But when the morning light did break, upon the Alamo
A hundred and eighty men stood bravely waiting
Travis, Bowie, and Crockett, feared losing more than death,
Their courage still a battle cry for all,
His stories they keep coming back that daddy told to me
About the times men didn't run, and fought for Liberty
His stories they live on
In my memory
About the men who fought and died to keep alive
Our American Freedom
When the civil war came a-crashin' down I wore a coat of gray
But my brother chose a coat of blue, and fought on the side of Lincoln
Shiloh's bloody battlefield warned of things to come
Cemetery Ridge, Gettysburg, Vicksburg and Bull Run
Stuart, Jackson, Beauregard, Pickett, Grant and Lee
Remind us just how far we've come and where we used to be
His words that Lincoln spoke to those at Gettysburg that day,
(spoken) "that all men were created equal," are just as true today
CHORUS
Take a look around take a look around brother, take a look around at who you see, apologizing for America, even to our enemies
Are you tired of the pork barrel politics, and the perks they love so well?
When comes the time you can vote 'em out, to get a real job, won't that just be swell? We'll keep our freedom, they'll get a change
In June of 1944, aboard the Battleship Texas
Her big guns came 'round to bear, breathed fire and smoke and roared
Pearl Harbor burned in memory wading Normandy's shores
Brave men bent on fighting back, and breaking Hitler's horde
They paid the price to keep us free, and safe in loving arms
It's always been that way in ages past
Whenever evil rears its head and threatens liberty
Men with steel and honor, have said "I'll go here take me"
His stories they live on
In my memory
About the men who fought and died to keep alive
Our American Freedom
Well, Daddy's chair is empty now
The fire has lost it's glow
But sometimes late at night I can hear him calling
Saying "Son, the time has come, you gotta take your place,
The time has come again for men to stand tall"
Yeah, take a stand on taxes, and better government
And tell that bunch in Washington,
We're never, ever, giving up our freedom |
